Glamorgan meet the Notts Outlaws in their next Royal London One-Day Cup game with the two teams meeting at Sophia Gardens in a contest which is scheduled to get underway at 1100 on Sunday 8 August. (writes Andrew Hignell)

Glamorgan are currently on top of the table with eight points from their six games, with Somerset in second spot, also on eight points, but behind the Welsh county because of their inferior net run rate. The Notts Outlaws are two points behind in third place and, like the Welsh county and several other teams, have aspirations of a place in the knockout stages of the competition.

Glamorgan were beaten by the Notts Outlaws in their last two meetings in List A cricket – at Sophia Gardens in July 2014 by three wickets as well as during September 2013 in the YB40 Final at Lord’s by 87 runs. The two teams have only met previously in five List A matches at Sophia Gardens, as shown by the list below.

25 May 1988 – Glamorgan won by 6 wickets
4 May 1991 – Glamorgan won by 1 run
5 May 1991 - Nottinghamshire won by 4 wickets
10 Sept 1995 - Match Abandoned
30 July 2014 - Nottinghamshire won by 3 wickets

The Welsh county’s sole victories in List A matches at their headquarters both came in Benson and Hedges Cup games. The first in 1988 saw Glamorgan win by six wickets after Matthew Maynard had struck an imperious 108 with John Hopkins also making 81 after a miserly bowling performance spearheaded by Greg Thomas, John Derrick and Rodney Ontong.

The second – and most recent occurred during May 1991 as they clinched a nail-biting victory by one run after Alan Butcher and Matthew Maynard had each scored half-centuries whilst Mark Frost claimed three wickets to thwart century-maker Tim Robinson’s hopes of seeing the East Midlands to their target of 230.
