Glamorgan release a 13-player squad for the home game against Derbyshire in the Rothesay County Championship at Sophia Gardens starting Friday 2 May.
After a week off, the team is ready to get back to matchday mode at Sophia Gardens as they welcome Derbyshire to the Home of Welsh Cricket in what promises to be a sunny and warm weekend. Captain Sam Northeast and his boys trained throughout the week in preparation and lead-up to Friday, as two former players in Derbyshire will make the trip to a familiar territory. David Lloyd and Aneurin Donald, who both started their careers at Glamorgan, will be playing for Derbyshire at Sophia Gardens.
Derbyshire have had a good start to the season, winning the first round and securing bonus points in the others, currently sitting at second. Glamorgan are boosted with the arrivals of Jamie McIlroy and Asa Tribe, who join the matchday squad after impressive performances with the 2nd XI. Shoaib Bashir is back at Somerset after the end of his contract, and Billy Root misses out. Mason Crane and James Harris started training last week and are currently playing their first match of the season for the 2nd XI at Newport against Cardiff UCCE.
