Glamorgan vs. Middlesex: Match Preview & Squad

22 May 2025 | Cricket

Glamorgan release a 13-member squad for the game against Middlesex in the Rothesay County Championship at Sophia Gardens starting Friday 23 May.

After recording back-to-back victories in the County Championship, Glamorgan will look to finish the first block of fixtures in the red-ball competition on a high, as Middlesex arrive in Wales for the bank holiday weekend. The London-based county got a win against Glamorgan in the reverse fixture at Lord's earlier in the season, but arrive in Cardiff after loss to Leicestershire.

Glamorgan's in-form all-rounder Ben Kellaway will miss the Middlesex match due to exams, as the Newport-born cricketer is due to complete his undergraduate level studies at Cardiff University this summer. Sri Lankan Test star Asitha Fernando too will miss his last game for the Welsh county due to heavy workload in the recent months, with the fast-bowler playing six matches on-the-trot since his arrival in Wales.

Australian left-arm spinner Matt Kuhnemann joins the squad for the match against Middlesex, as the Queensland-based cricketer has already been training with Glamorgan in the nets this week. Flying in early to the UK ahead of the ICC World Test Championship final at Lord's in June, Kuhnemann joined Marnus Labuschagne on his journey to Cardiff in order to get match-fit for the final. Ben Kellaway's absence and Asitha Fernando's unavailability provided the Club with the perfect opportunity to get the Australian on board for the final Championship match of this block.
