Following an award-winning year, Glamorgan County Cricket Club had another successful night at the annual Business of Cricket Awards, bringing home the ‘Raising The Game’ Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Award.

The annual Business of Cricket Awards (BOCAs) were hosted at the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol on Thursday, 9 November.

The BOCAs provide an opportunity to reward the innovation and best practice of the First-Class Counties and Marylebone Cricket Club, as well as highlighting the work of unsung heroes over the past year.

Glamorgan Cricket won the ‘Raising The Game’ EDI Award after implementing initiatives that earned the club UK Full Accreditation from the National Centre for Diversity, and a joint WSA Sports Industry Award for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion alongside Cricket Wales back in June.

These initiatives include a workshop to develop our wider work on EDI at Glamorgan, various listening groups throughout the season including a Womens and Girls session and a session on Ethnically Diverse Groups. We also held a workshop for key influencers at ethnically diverse cricket clubs across Wales.

The award highlights once again the strides that the Club are making towards making cricket the most inclusive sport in Wales and growing the game across the country in every community.

The Club were also finalists in the Most Welcoming and Inclusive Stadia, and the Tickets or Membership Sales and Marketing Campaign of the Year categories, recognition of the hard work and effort behind the scenes at Glamorgan.

Community and Development Manager at Glamorgan and Cricket Wales, Mark Frost, said: “We are delighted with this recognition from the ECB, which highlights the club-wide efforts and absolute commitment to making every visitor experience at Glamorgan Cricket one where you feel welcome and feel at home.

“The investment into facilities, training of staff, and desire to make our future female and male professional cricketers more diverse and representative of the makeup of Wales is paramount.

“All credit should go to EVERY member of staff who are living out the ethos of Glamorgan Cricket being a welcoming inclusive organisation.”
