Gloucestershire made 207/3 after batting first against Glamorgan in their contest in the NatWest T20 Blast at Bristol with Michael Klinger making 70 and Ian Cockbain an unbeaten 59, but the weather was the only winner as a massive thunderstorm broke over the ground during the interval between innings and washed out the contest.
Following another thrilling victory on Friday night at Taunton, Glamorgan made one change to their line-up for the match at Bristol with Will Owen replacing Andrew Salter, but it was the usual pairing of Graham Wagg and Michael Hogan who opened the bowling for the Welsh county as the Welsh county hoped to considerably improve on their record last summer in Twenty20 cricket against Gloucestershire when they claimed a solitary wicket in the games at Cardiff and Cheltenham.

After Wagg began with two wides, Michael Klinger square-drove the left-armer for four through the off-side, before launching Hogan through extra-cover for successive boundaries in the second over. Alex Gidman then deftly leg-glanced Wagg to fine-leg before Klinger repeated the stroke later in the over, followed by another crisply-struck cover drive as the home side made a brisk start.

Gidman duly pulled Owen to long-leg before Klinger opted for the aerial route to long-on as he lofted Hogan into the stands for six, The fifty then came up at the end of the fifth over as Gidman again glanced Hogan for four to fine-leg before swatting Darren Sammy to the ropes at mid-wicket as Gloucestershire ended the powerplays on 62/0. Dean Cosker then entered the attack and to his second delivery, Gidman pushed the ball to point where Allenby ran out the opener who was sent back by his captain.

Ian Cockbain joined Klinger who nearly holed out to Sammy at long-on later in the over. The boundaries dried up for a while as Jacques Rudolph bowled in tandem with the wily left-armer, but after three barren overs Klinger drilled Cosker straight for four. It then started to rain and with the home side on 79/1 after 9.2 overs, there was a 36 minute interruption with no overs being lost.

Sammy then completed his over before Cockbain almost drilled a ball straight back to Cosker. Klinger duly completed his fifty from 36 balls in the next over from Rudolph before square-driving Cosker for four to see his team to the 100-mark. Klinger greeted the return of Owen by flicking him to fine-leg whilst Cockbain struck him over extra cover later in the over. Cockbain also drilled a no-ball from Sammy straight for four before swatting the free hit for six onto the balcony of one of the new apartments lining the boundary at the Ashley Down End.

The West Indian atoned next over at long-off as he caught a lofted drive by Klinger against Hogan to end the captain's innings on 70. Geraint Jones announced his arrival by cover-driving the Australian for four and then launching Wagg high over wide mid-off for another boundary. The former England wicket-keeper then drilled Sammy over long-off for six before being dropped on the extra-cover boundary. He followed this by swatting a free-hit from Sammy over deep mid-wicket for six before the rains returned and forced the players off for a further ten minutes.

The batting fireworks continued from Jones as he launched Hogan over backward point for six followed next ball by a massive six to backward square-leg. The bowler then uprooted Jones' middle stump but the sixes still came as Cockbain clubbed a full toss from Wagg over mid-wicket. He followed this with a rasping four through cover to bring up the 200 and leaving Glamorgan to make their highest-ever total if they were to win this match. But a massive thunderstorm then broke over the Bristol ground as torrential rain fell and washed out the contest, leaving Glamorgan to share the points with Gloucestershire.
