HER GAME TOO CRICKET & HER GAME TOO CYMRU PARTNERS WITH GLAMORGAN CRICKET

4 Jun 2025 | Community

Glamorgan Cricket is delighted to pledge our support for the campaign that Her Game Too Cricket & Her Game Too Cymru have, making us the 7th FCC to partner with Her Game Too. This partnership, which comes at an incredibly exciting time for Women and Girls’ cricket in Wales, marks a pivotal moment for both Glamorgan Cricket and Her Game Too as we begin to spread our message across the cricketing community in Wales.

Home to a Division 2 Men’s team and a Tier 2 Women’s side, Glamorgan have played an integral role in growing Welsh cricket – from professional to recreational level. With our Women’s side gaining Tier 1 status in 2027, the club has big ambitions for the future. The arrival of professional Women’s county cricket in Wales has been described as a “monumental” step for the Welsh game, enabling the next generation of female cricketers to actively pursue a full-time career in the game and wear our club’s daffodil with pride.

Backed up by a range of programmes from Cricket Wales at recreational level, the Women’s and &Girls’ game is going from strength to strength and the club is eager to continue this trend both on and off the field. At Sophia Gardens, Glamorgan Cricket will proudly host five Women’s fixtures this summer, including two Vitality T20 Blast double-headers with the Men’s side. As the club welcomes more female players, officials and spectators, we have expressed our commitment to ensuring that our grounds are inclusive spaces for women and girls so that “everyone feels welcome and at home”.

To reinforce this stance that cricket is a game for all, Glamorgan Cricket has partnered with Her Game Too Cricket and, by extension, Her Game Too Cymru. Following the establishment of this partnership, Her Game Too Cricket and Her Game Too Cymru will combine their efforts and resources, working together to ensure that we can deliver a tailored approach to the Welsh game and the cricketing community across Wales.

A similar partnership has also been agreed with Cricket Wales.

Dan Cherry, CEO said: “I’m delighted that Glamorgan Cricket are partnering with Her Game Too as this further underlines our commitment to creating a level playing field for girls growing up in Wales to have the same pathway and elite opportunities as our boys. We are very proud of the progress so far with our Glamorgan Women’s teams performing well and us seeing a huge rise in females attending matches at Sophia Gardens in recent years. This partnership comes at a very timely moment as we continue to prepare to become a Tier 1 team in 2027.”

Roopa Vyas, Founder of Her Game Too Cymru, said: “We’re incredibly proud to expand our work into cricket through our partnership with Glamorgan Cricket, the only professional Welsh club. This is a powerful step forward as we continue championing gender equality in sport - and we’re honoured to now represent both football and cricket fans across Wales.” On the partnership with Glamorgan Cricket and collaboration with Her Game Too Cymru, Paige Caunce, Head of Her Game Too Cricket, said: “As we continue our work to advocate for a more inclusive future in cricket, we are delighted to announce that the campaign are partnering with Glamorgan Cricket. This is a huge moment for the cricket branch of the campaign as, working alongside the team at Her Game Too Cymru, we begin to take our message into Wales and launch a dedicated approach to our work in the country. I’d like to express our gratitude to the team at Glamorgan cricket for their support and enthusiasm thus far in forming this partnership. We are excited by what the future of this partnership will bring.”
