Watch highlights as Glamorgan inflict Essex\'s third Specsavers County Championship defeat of the summer, whilst recording their third victory of the campaign.
After Wallace hit the final runs of his season's best 78 Essex were set a target of 264 for victory. Promotion to Division One may habve already been sealed on Tuesday when they garnered the five bonus points required to put them in an unassailable position, but with Masters and Napier playing their last home games for the county they wanted to finish their season with the flourish it deserved.
However, they found Michael Hogan in party-pooping mood as his five wickets for 45 left Essex 11 runs short of victory. It was the Australian’s second five-wicket haul in successive games, taking him to 44 Championship wickets for the season. He was well supported by the parsimonious Timm van der Gugten, who claimed four for 56 from 29.5 overs, and with the last wicket of Porter he ended Essex’s obdurate last-wicket partnership with 19 balls to spare.
