Michael Hogan claimed his 100th wicket for Glamorgan in first-class cricket when he dismissed Hamish Marshall on the opening day of Glamorgan's LV=County Championship match against Gloucestershire at Bristol, thereby becoming the second fastest-ever to this career milestone for the Welsh county.
The Australian went into the contest with 97 first-class wickets to his name for his adopted county and he duly added that of Chris Dent in the morning session before adding the scalp of Will Tavare after lunch. He then claimed his 100th victim in the final session as he bowled Hamish Marshall.
This is only Hogan's 20th appearance for the Welsh county in a first-class match and he reached the landmark in one game more than Michael Kasprowicz who claimed his 100th wicket for Glamorgan during his 19th appearance during the 2003 season
The previous best by a bowler who was appearing for Glamorgan not as an overseas player was recorded by Penarth-born seam bowler Austin Matthews who reached the landmark in 1939 on his 21st appearance for the Club having switched his county allegiances from Northamptonshire in 1937.
