In one of the most dramatic one-day games at their headquarters for over a quarter of a century, Glamorgan defeated the Essex Eagles by one run as a nerveless final over from Michael Hogan plus some razor-sharp fielding prevented the visitors from scoring the seven runs they required from the last six deliveries to win a crackerjack of a contest in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
After the run out of Simon Harmer, and a series of dot balls by the frugal Hogan, the equation for the Eagles to win was for Neil Wagner to score four from the final delivery. But the tail-ender could only squirt the ball away for two runs, leaving Glamorgan to celebrate their second win in the competition this summer and their first in List A cricket by just one run fat their Cardiff base since 1991.
For the record, the other victories by Glamorgan in one-day matches by just one run have been:
v Yorkshire at Bradford, 1970 (SL)
v Somerset at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, 1976 (SL)
v Warwickshire at Swansea, 1977 (SL)

v Surrey at Ebbw Vale, 1979 (SL)
v Gloucestershire at Bristol, 1980 (B&H)
