Glamorgan suffered their third washout in four days as overnight rain prevented any more play at Derby with the game ending in a draw.
Despite the weather, Head Coach Robert Croft was pleased with his side’s bowling performance which saw them reduce Derbyshire to 236/9 on day three and in particular that of young Welsh seamer Lukas Carey who claimed three wickets.
“Our seamers were largely in T20 mode so it was good to get a good run out there,” said Croft. “I thought we bowled well in patches. I think it’s progression ahead of next week against Northamptonshire.
“I think it’s as well as I’ve seen Lukas bowl this season. The encouraging sign was he bowled two good spells and got a lot out of the wicket and he moved the ball in the air. He was unlucky not to come away with a five-wicket haul.
The Welsh county currently sit in seventh position in division two with three Specsavers County Championship matches remaining and with players returning from injury places are up for grabs, according to Croft.
"We've got three games left, we've got a couple of guys (David Lloyd and Timm van der Gugten) on the injury comeback trail,” added Croft.
"The second team have a game the same time as we're playing (against Northants) so they'll get some game-time there. That'll be encouraging.
"We'll try to use the end of the season to give people opportunities, but if people are playing well they keep their spots."
