I was pleased to get out there - Smith

Ruaidhri Smith made an encouraging comeback from injury as he took 3/21 for Glamorgan as they almost defended 152 against Surrey in the Vitality Blast, but the visitors made it over the line with an over to go.

Surrey's England pair of Pope and Foakes provided the late momentum to get over the line, after Colin Ingram had scored 41 and Graham Wagg added a rapid 36* late on to lift Glamorgan to 152/6 from their 20 overs.

"I was pleased to get out there and put in that performance even though it didn't quite go our way," said Smith.

"It's been incredibly frustrating for me, I thought I'd be back ready for the (start of the) season, but that's gone and hopefully I'll be alright for the rest of the season.

"I've been at the ground for every home match and it's not been the easiest of competitions, so I'm just looking forward to playing for the rest of the season."

Skipper Colin Ingram hit 41 off 33 balls to lead his side's efforts in the first winnings, and admitted he was frustrated with his side's form.

It was a familiar sinking feeling when the ball went over the boundary (for the winning runs)," said Ingram. "I play my cricket to win games and we were scrapping hard but couldn't quite pull it off."

"We've been really close in patches (to hitting form) but we haven't done ourselves any favours. We gave it our best.

"Ruaidhri came back in and had a good day first up, which is encouraging."
