Glamorgan finished day three of their Specsavers County Championship clash needing eight wickets to ensure victory against Leicestershire, in the final game at Sophia Gardens for 2019.
Kraigg Brathwite hit a maiden century for Glamorgan as the side were able to declare on 251/5, setting a stiff total of 424 for the visitors who finished the day on 32/2 thanks to Lukas Carey's new ball burst.
“We were ahead," said Brathwaite. "So we know what target to achieve and I just had to make sure I went out and did that.
“They bowled very well, and hit a very good length, so it wasn’t easy but as time went on it got just a little easier."
Brathwaite was joined by his skipper Chris Cooke, whose 43 from just 39 balls helped power Glamorgan into a commanding position before Brathwaite completed his century from 189 balls, with 12 fours and a six.
“He came out and did a good job, gave us some momentum into our fielding.
“We went over by a couple of minutes [for the imminent declaration] but it was just about on time, so I’m thankful for that opportunity and thankful we got a couple of wickets late on, that makes it easier tomorrow.
“It would be amazing feeling to win. I came over looking to do a job and set a platform for the other guys so I’ll be very happy if we can get a win from that.
“These guys are amazing. they’ve welcomed me so well and it feels like family, so I was able to come in and do my normal stuff - bat long and score runs, and hopefully I can do that at Durham as well.
