Im the aggressor trying to get us off to a quick start - Donald

Glamorgan remain at the top of the NatWest T20 Blast south group after claiming a 25 run against Kent Spitfires in Canterbury yesterday.

Batting first Glamorgan reached 199/2 thanks to a blistering batting performance which saw Aneurin Donald strike 50 off 31 balls and Jacques Rudolph an unbeaten 77 from 52 deliveries. They were well supported by overseas signing David Miller who smashed 43 off 26 during an 81 run partnership with Rudolph.

"Kent have a pretty strong batting line-up so it was nice for our top four to get the job done,” said Aneurin Donald.

“That's what you're looking for in T20 for the top four to get the bulk of the runs, and [for me] to pick up the slack when Colin Ingram fails for once in a blue moon is nice.

“At the top of the order it's your job to get the big scores. I'm the aggressor trying to get us off to a quick start.

Despite a strong start from the top order, the total proved too much for Kent against some accurate bowling from the Glamorgan attack, in particular Marchant de Lange and Craig Meschede who strangled the Kent middle order.

"Credit to our bowlers holding their nerve, it shows what a quality outfit we are this year and, if you get to 200, you're going to win more often than not with the experience of our bowling line-up,” said Donald.

The Welsh county now have a two-point lead over their nearest rivals Surrey and will be looking to reach their second consecutive home quarter-final in the NatWest T20 Blast.

"The target's another home quarter-final and trying to get to that Finals Day. I think we're one of the stronger teams in the competition this year and if we play the way we are, we're going to be there or thereabouts,” added Donald.

Next up for Glamorgan is local rivals Gloucestershire on Thursday, with adults able to purchase their tickets for just £16 and U17s for only £5.
