Glamorgan County Cricket Club would like to share our heartfelt respects and condolences following the recent passing of John Prickett.
A champion of grassroots player development, John was an inspiration to all. Alongside his proud family life and academic achievements, he was a dedicated coach and administrator with far-reaching influence.
Reflecting on the news, Glamorgan CEO Dan Cherry said, “John’s longstanding contribution and infectious enthusiasm has seen large numbers of young players adopt his love for the game across Wales and England.
“This could particularly be seen in the development of young cricketers in West Wales, of whom many progressed to higher honours and some represented Glamorgan. Highly regarded as a stalwart within the wider cricket and Welsh sport community, John will be sorely missed.”
Glamorgan CCC Community Manager and Cricket Wales Head of Partnerships, Mark Frost added, "John seemed to have always been there in making cricket happen. He organised cricket matches in every corner of Wales and most of England. His love for cricket we know infected so many people and his roles in cricket are too many to chronicle accurately.
“John served as a board member when the Cricket Board of Wales was formed but his contribution was vast already by that stage. We can only thank him and remember him in so many ways.”
