Ingram excited by return of Vitality Blast

Glamorgan white-ball captain Colin Ingram is looking forward to the return of the Vitality Blast and is hoping his side can continue their form over recent seasons into this year\'s campaign.

The man known as 'Kingram' for his star batting displays will captain the Welsh county in the Vitality Blast for the first time and is targeting further progress in the 20-over format after reaching finals-day last season.

"It would be really nice [to get to the final]," said Ingram. "We've taken on the challenge of this format over the last couple of years and we've really enjoyed it. We have high hopes again for this year and hopefully we can create momentum early on in the tournament and go from there."

Glamorgan made a big splash by announcing Australian batsmen Shaun Marsh and Usman Khawaja as their overseas players for the 2018 season and the duo head into the competition in fine form.

Marsh hit two centuries for Australia in their recent ODI series against England, while Khawaja broke a Glamorgan club record by scoring three centuries in his first three Specsavers County Championship matches for the county. Ingram has been impressed by what he's seen and believes the top order have the tools to produce big scores.

"It's like the Australians are infiltrating this year! It's great to have them here, they're really experienced players and both have done well in white-ball cricket recently. It's been nice to see Uzzie scoring some four-day runs for us and he's settled in really well, so it'll exciting to see what we'll be able to do at the top of the order.

"Both of them play up front in the T20 format and I think that is their best spot and of course we want our best players in those spots. We might have a few experienced guys up front but that is where your big scores come from so hopefully we can do that."

Glamorgan kick off their Vitality Blast campaign with a trip to recently-crowned Royal London One-Day Cup champions Hampshire this Friday, and Ingram believes his side can catch the hosts off guard.

"We're expecting a side that have been playing well in white-ball cricket. We have to go down there and have a good scrap and hopefully we can catch them on a bit of a hangover after their one-day cup performance and get an early win on the board."
