Glamorgan\'s Colin Ingram has moved to top spot in the PCA\'s Most Valuable Player (MVP) charts thanks to a string of impressive performances in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
Ingram followed a blockbuster innings of 95 from 53 balls against Kent Spitfires, with a score of 85 and a brilliant spell of leg-spin bowling which yielded figures of 10-0-38-3 against Middlesex, to jump above Michael Lumb in the MVP rankings.
All that after Ingram captained Glamorgan – in the field, after Jacques Rudolph was injured batting – to victory over Sussex Sharks by 84 runs, taking two catches in the process, one of them a stunning acrobatic effort to dismiss Luke Wright.
Two days earlier, as Glamorgan beat Gloucestershire at The SSE SWALEC by 52 runs, Ingram hit a breezy 35 off 28 balls. He also bowled with great control, finishing with 5-0-12-2 which included a catch off his own bowling to get rid of Gloucestershire skipper Michael Klinger.
Ingram has slotted back into Glamorgan's lineup with ease, after missing the first six weeks of the season with a knee injury.
The MVP rankings will play a major part in determining selection for a showpiece North versus South match next season, with the top players in the country selected for each side.
The South African, however, is ineligible for the match in Abu Dhabi next spring. England-qualified Graham Wagg is currently in 24th place, while Will Bragg is 31st.
The first phase of the Royal London Cup is now complete and the sides will take a break, with Glamorgan's next fixture in the competition against Somerset on July 24.
Ingram will line up for the Welsh county in the NatWest T20 Blast against Kent Spitfires at The SSE SWALEC tomorrow (Friday) night. Secure your seats for the match by clicking here.
