Colin Ingram’s Warriors went down to a 6 run defeat to the Titans in a rain-affected clash in the final game of the group stage, which was reduced to a five-over clash.
Chasing 81 to win, Ingram (19 off 8) opened with Warriors captain Smuts and looked to have put the home team in a good position at 53/1 off 3 overs, but it was Titan’s Farhaan Behardien's knock of 55 off 15 balls - a competition record – that proved the difference and saw Jacques Rudolph’s old team progress to the final as league leaders after 10 group games.
In the other play-off fixture of significance, former Glamorgan T20 player Wayne Parnell (3-22) combined with Moreki for the Cobras to limit the Lions to what seemed a below par 139/8. However Eddie Lele took 4 wickets to reduce the Cape Town outfit including Amla, Levi, Pollard and Duminy from 59/2 to 89/6 and they couldn’t recover, with the Lions piping them to 3rd spot in the ladder.
The Warriors finished in second place and will now face a home qualifier in Port Elizabeth against the Lions on Tuesday with the winner facing the Titans in Friday’s final.
