Andy Carter has been ruled out of all cricket for around four weeks with a side injury.
The 26-year-old fast bowler recently returned from a successful loan spell with Glamorgan and was named in the provisional Nottinghamshire squad for the trip to Durham.
Carter's three matches for Glamorgan brought 12 first-class wickets at an average of 27.08.
Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell admits it's a frustrating time for Carter to have picked up the injury, but he backed his battery of bowlers to perform in the absence of the Lincolnshire born right-armer.
Andy did very well on loan at Glamorgan and we had hoped to have him in contention for Durham, as well as our first Twenty20 match on Friday, said Newell.
He'd come back in confident mood because of the way he was bowling, so it's a shame he's picked up this injury.
