Batters David Lloyd and Sam Northeast lit up Sophia Gardens with some extraordinary hitting as they broke the record for Glamorgan’s highest-ever T20 partnership and helped defeat Middlesex by eight wickets in the Vitality Blast.
Lloyd (67) and Northeast (89) smashed the ball to seemingly every corner of the ground as they amassed a first-wicket partnership of 150.
The brutal onslaught saw the pair score 82 runs in the powerplay, before bringing up their century partnership in just 7.2 overs.
The two broke the previous record of 141 set by Colin Ingram and Jacques Rudolph in 2015 at the Oval against Surrey.
“After the first four balls after I was nought off four,” said Lloyd. “I thought this is going to be another long night.
“Luckily things changed, I thought the way myself and Sam batted was amazing and it was nice to do it for myself and the team. It is special, it is nice to be in the record books, batting with Sam.
“He is a very experienced player, and he has brought a lot to the changing room since he has come. It was nice to have Sam at the other end and watch how he goes about things and most importantly we got a win for the team which is great. “
"It's great, I can't quite believe it happened,” added Northeast. “It was a really good pitch and you just keep going when you get a start like that.
"Lloydy must have been on about 40 when I had three, but I got a few away and it was one of those nights when everything comes off.
"It was almost the perfect team performance and if we keep producing that, we'll have a chance to qualify and momentum's always good in T20. It was a great atmosphere and if we keep playing like that that, hopefully more people will come."
