It was great to get a century partnership with Marnus - Selman

Glamorgan secured their first Vitality Blast win of the season after dismantling Essex Eagles by seven wickets at Sophia Gardens.

After limiting Essex to 153/6, Glamorgan surpassed the total with ease thanks to Nick Selman (65) and Marnus Labuschagne (59) who combined for a 110-run partnership from just 13.1 overs.

“We started a little bit slow and Marnus Labuschagne took a few balls to get going, but we ran hard and hit the gaps," said Selman. "It was great to bat with him. We are both a little bit disappointed we weren’t there at the end.

“It was a nice wicket to hit through the ball and it was great to get a century partnership with Marnus which helped us get over the line. He is a bit of a nightmare to run with in terms of twos and threes, but that’s what you have to do in Twenty20.

“We weren’t that far off in our first game, but we bowled a lot better today and it’s all about partnerships with the bat. It was great to have a three-figure stand and now we need to build on that.”
