Seamer Timm van der Gugten took 3/42 and was the pick of the Glamorgan bowlers as Worcestershire reached 285/7 at the close of day one of their LV= County Championship match.
“It was pretty even at the end I would say. We were not sure how the wicket would play, we were not sure what we would do if we won the toss, so it was probably a good one to lose,” said van der Gugten.
“We started well and when the ball got soft it actually became quite nice to bat on , so credit to their batters Roderick and Barnard who put on a good partnership there but it was nice to finish the day with seven wickets.
“I was pretty happy with how the ball came out today, but as a unit we all bowled really well. To keep them to under three runs an over for the day is a great effort, if we can get a couple more in the morning then we can get out there and have a bat.”
