After his batting excellence at Hove on Tuesday night, Jacques Rudolph has ended the group stages of the Royal London One-Day Cup as the country's leading run-scorer in the 50-over competition, with 575 runs to his name.
To erase the name of Viv Richards from Glamorgan's record books as the maker of the highest-ever one-day score was always going to require an innings of a rare quality, but that is precisely what a career-best innings from Jacques Rudolph achieved in the Welsh county's final List A game of the summer as he majestically guided Glamorgan to an emphatic seven-wicket victory over the Sussex Sharks under the Duckworth-Lewis Method,
His elegant efforts in posting a record-breaking 169* from 150 balls came after a far more muscular century by Sussex's Luke Wright, but it was Rudolph's masterclass of deft placement and crisp driving which saw his side ease to their target with eight balls to spare, with the Springbok taking his tally in the group stages to 575 at an average of 82.14 having also posted centuries against the Notts Outlaws at the SWALEC Stadium and Somerset at Taunton.
Following the completion of the group stages of the competition, Jacques is now the country's leading run-scorer in the competition with his aggregate of 575 runs being almost 200 runs more than second-placed Alex Hales of the Notts Outlaws who has 384 runs to his name.
Jacques' efforts on Wednesday night also saw him become the first Glamorgan batsman to score three List A hundreds during a season. The list below shows those batsmen who had previously scored two in a season for the Welsh country in List A matches:
