Glamorgan Cricket is delighted to announce that left-arm seamer Jamie McIlroy has signed a contract extension with the Club until the end of 2026.
McIlroy has played 17 first-class games for Glamorgan, taking 28 wickets with his best figures being 5/34.
In T20, he has taken 32 wickets in 25 games, with his best bowling figures being 4/36.
A key member of this year’s Metro Bank One Day Cup winning squad, McIlroy formed a potent and probing new ball pairing with Timm van der Gugten which was one of the most economical in the 2024 competition. He has taken 14 List A wickets this year to add to the 7 wickets he had previously picked up in 8 List A games. This year’s stellar competition means that his List A wickets now total 21, with his best bowling figures being 3/33.
The Builth Wells product played pathway cricket for Wales before playing National Counties cricket with Herefordshire. He joined Glamorgan via the MCC Young Cricketers in 2019. He made his first-class debut in 2021 in the opening County Championship match against Yorkshire at Headingley.
In 2022, Jamie made his debut in white-ball cricket for Glamorgan delivering some useful spells with the left-arm. Since 2023, he has become a regular in both the red-ball and white-ball teams.
On signing his new deal, McIlroy said: “I’m delighted to have signed a contract extension to remain at the Club for a couple more years!
“We have a skilled group of players, and I’m excited to contribute to more success over the coming years.”
Glamorgan Director of Cricket, Mark Wallace, added: “Jamie has been an integral part of our white ball side over the last few years and played a major role in us winning the 50 over title at Trent Bridge last week.
“He’s still got a lot of potential to develop and we’re looking forward to seeing the strides Jamie can make with Glamorgan over the next few years.”
