Kiran Carlson extends contract with Glamorgan Cricket until the end of 2026

Glamorgan Cricket is delighted to announce that white-ball Captain Kiran Carlson has signed a contract extension with the Club until the end of 2026.

Carlson has played 85 first-class games for Glamorgan, scoring 4,715 runs with 12 hundreds and 22 fifties. One of these centuries came in a recent game against Sussex where he scored 148, helping Glamorgan secure their first win of the 2024 season.

Carlson, a stylish right-hand batter and off-spinner, made his County Championship debut in 2016 against Northamptonshire. On debut, he took a five-wicket haul, registering the best-ever bowling figures by a spin bowler making their debut for Glamorgan.

Carlson became the youngest Glamorgan player to score a century in County Championship history at the age of 18 years and 119 days. He achieved a career-best score of 191 against Gloucestershire at the end of the 2017 season.

Carlson also made his T20 debut for Glamorgan in 2017 and, in 2023, he broke a Club record by striking the fastest half-century off 15 balls against Sussex at Sophia Gardens.

In 2021, Carlson led Glamorgan to victory in the Royal London One Day Cup, scoring 82 in the Final.

On signing his new deal, Carlson said: “I’m extremely excited about committing two more years to Glamorgan. It’s my home club and I’ve been a part of Welsh cricket since I was 12 years old.

“We are building something really special at the Club and I can’t wait to be a part of it both as a captain in the white ball formats and as a player in the County Championship, massive thanks as always to my family for their support and the club for showing their faith in me.”

Glamorgan Head Coach, Grant Bradburn said: “I have been very impressed with Kiran Carlson since arriving at Glamorgan early this season.

“Kiran makes a positive impact on and off the park and I’m so pleased Kiran is committed to being an integral part of a new era of success for Glamorgan Cricket.”

Glamorgan Director of Cricket, Mark Wallace added: “It’s fantastic news that Kiran has committed to the club for the foreseeable future.

“As one of the leaders of our group both on and off the field he is a crucial part of our future, and we look forward to seeing him continue his cricketing journey with the Club.”
