Glamorgan County Cricket Club is delighted to confirm Lauren Parfitt as the first-ever captain of Glamorgan Women as the Club embarks upon a bold new chapter in its long history.

Lauren, who has been a massive name in Welsh women's cricket over the past fifteen years, takes the leadership role in ECB Tier 2 competitions this season. The Women's team then enters its fully professional era in 2027.

Starting her career for Wales Women as an 11-year-old, Lauren has spent a number of years in the game, including years as a professional with Western Storm under former England World Cup-winning captain Heather Knight.

Rachel Priest, who was announced as the Head Coach of Glamorgan Women earlier this year, was once teammates with Lauren.

On working with Rachel, Lauren said, "I really look up to Rachel and have shared the dressing room with her - seeing her hit the ball to corners of the park and being in absolute awe of her skills. I'm really excited to work together with her in such an exciting squad."

Head of Women & Girls Cricket, Aimee Rees added, "It's amazing to have Lauren lead this side that has a great mix of young and experienced cricketers, for whom she will be the perfect role model".

Having played for Newport Cricket Club growing up, Lauren has the experience of playing the highest level of cricket in the domestic game. As the season begins in a fortnight's time for the women's team, Lauren will be instrumental in a historic season for the Club.
