LISTEN: Rudolph Content After Draw

13 Apr 2016 | Cricket
Glamorgan captain Jacques Rudolph was happy to see his players enjoy quality time in the middle in the draw against Cardiff MCCU.

Aneurin Donald and David Lloyd both made hundreds, and Craig Meschede and Mark Wallace hit fifties in Glamorgan's final game before their Specsavers County Championship campaign gets underway.

And Rudolph was happy with how the rain-affected game went, with players finding form on the eve of the season.

Glamorgan declared this morning on 533/7, before the students reached 166/1 when the captains shook hands.

Rudolph said: "One of the main reasons we declared a bit late was to get all our batters some quality time in the middle, and from one down to Wally [Wallace] at nine everyone had good time at the middle."

"From a bowling point of view the wickets column doesn't stack up the way we would have liked but the areas we bowled were more important, we were close to getting it spot on and I thought they batted pretty well.

"It looks like the wickets (in Cardiff) are a bit better this year and it might take more hard work for our bowlers.

"But if we want to play first division cricket, these are the type of wickets we've got to play on."

Glamorgan will start their County Championship campaign versus Leicestershire on Sunday at The SSE SWALEC, with play due to start at 11am.
