Glamorgan 2nd XI have won the Second Eleven T20 competition by beating Hampshire 2nd XI in a cliffhanger of a game in the final of the Second Eleven T20 competition at Arundel Castle as the Welsh county's second string secured their first silverware since winning the Warwick Pool U25 competition at Edgbaston in 1981.
(writes Andrew Hignell).
In contrast to the semi-final, Glamorgan lost early wickets during the powerplay overs, reaching 31/3 from six overs against the accurate Hampshire attack who had earlier defeated Durham 2nd XI by five wickets/ Billy Root however led a recovery mission, making 49 from 47 balls as Glamorgan ended on 122/7. Roman walker then struck with the fourth ball as Felix Organ was caught behind, before Kazi Szymanski also took a wicket in his opening over as Harrison Ward miscues to mid-on. 11/2 then became 11/3 as Harry Came (and quickly went) as he was clean bowled by Walker.
Ian Holland then mounted a rearguard action to set up the nerve-jangling finish, with Glamorgan's spinners also putting a break on Hampshire's progress as the task became 53 from 36 balls. Things changed as Hemphrey deflected a drive onto the stumps in his follow through to run out Tom Scriven before the off-spinner bowled Ollie Soames. Szymanski then returned with 33 needed from 24 balls and removed Calvin Harrison courtesy of a fine catch by Joe Cooke at mid-wicket.
Holland then completed his 50 from 42 balls before Schreuder flayed two fours in Szymanski's last over leaving Hampshire needing eight form the last over, delivered by Walker. The first two balls brought singles before Walker bowled a wide. He atoned by then delivering a dot ball, before Holland scrambled two from the next delivery, before, needing three to win, Holland drilled the next to Owen Morgan at cover. Walker then held his nerve as the last ball brought just a single as Glamorgan won by one run.

Earlier Glamorgan 2nd XI beat Nottinghamshire 2nd XI by 105 runs in the first semi-final. After being put in to bat, Glamorgan reached 204-4 in their 20 overs with Nick Selman making an unbeaten 115 - just one short of the all-time Club record, but the highest in the competition by a Glamorgan batsman beating David Lloyd's 109* against Surrey 2nd XI at Cardiff CC in 2015 . Selman's century - his first in this format - came from 59 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes.
The Welsh county's bowlers were soon amongst the wickets with Kazi Szymanski (4/18) and Roman Walker dismantling the top order and putting their side firmly into the driving seat. Nottinghamshire eventually reached 99 as Glamorgan celebrated one of their most emphatic victories in the short format, by 105 runs and to reach for the first time the final of the competition.
