During our first home fixture, in partnership with Cricket Wales, Glamorgan extends thanks and recognition to local cricket clubs who have kept strong through this different and difficult 2020 summer season.
As we return to play in Sophia Gardens, the following local clubs have each been selected as a "Club of the Day":
Dolgellau CC
This North Wales club has generated a brilliant all-round offer now including All Stars Cricket, a vibrant women and girls scene, a disability Cricket activity which means that they are going for Insport Gold. In addition, the club has been busy upskilling more coaches, volunteers and also having progressed a player into the Welsh squad. The club also has new nets and are working on a pavilion project.
Ynystawe CC
Thanks to the drive of Shana Thomas and Chair Phil Rowe this club has introduced cricket to so many women and girls within the last two years. It just goes to say what can be done in a short period of time.
Hawarden Park CC
A North Wales club which has embedded the subjects of safeguarding and welfare into the heart of the club. The club has also realised brilliant growth recently, and cricketing junior wise have adapted facilities and progressed them despite a forced ground move. Their All-Stars section is huge, and they have done well to recruit new young volunteers to support all their All-Stars. They also offer ladies hardball cricket, one of the few clubs in North Wales who do.
Sudbrook CC
This club sits in view of the Prince Charles’ Bridge in the far eastern corner of Wales and one of its hallmarks has been its commitment to the development of cricket for women and girls. The club has a flourishing junior section with a large number ranging from ages of All-Stars – U19’s boys & girls.
