There is plenty of Festival cricket for supporters of Glamorgan County Cricket Club to enjoy during 2017 as the Welsh county hosts its annual cricket weeks at Swansea and Colwyn Bay besides taking part in the famous festivals at Cheltenham and Arundel.
Durham will be the visitors to Swansea for the annual County Championship fixture at the St. Helen’s ground with the contest starting on Friday, May 26th and continuing over the Whitsun Bank Holiday. Kent will also visit Swansea on Sunday, May 14th for their contest in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
The annual first-class fixture at Colwyn Bay starts on Bank Holiday Monday, August 28th with Sussex visiting the Rhos-on-Sea ground for the first time since 2000 and the game when they invited Glamorgan to bat first, with the Welsh county responding with a record-breaking total of 718-3 dec as Steve James became the first Glamorgan batsman to score a triple-hundred as he posted an unbeaten 309*.
July 3rd will see Glamorgan visit Cheltenham for their four-day contest with Gloucestershire, with the game at the historic College ground forming part of the popular Festival and the place where, in 2006, Michael Powell came within one run of emulating Steve James’ achievements at Colwyn Bay as he posted a superb 299 against the West Country attack.
On July 9th Glamorgan will be in Twenty20 action at Arundel as they meet Sussex for the first–ever time in the Welsh club’s history at the picturesque ground. Glamorgan have previously staged red and white ball matches at Hove, Hastings, Horsham, Eastbourne, Chichester and Worthing, but 2017 will see them play for the first-ever time at the famous ground in the shadow of Arundel Castle.
