Mark Wallace on Glamorgan's New Free Pathway Structure

3 Feb 2025 | Community

Director of Cricket Mark Wallace spoke on the new Glamorgan Cricket Pathway, which has been free of cost to all players since 2020.

"The pathway was largely under the Cricket Wales banner, albeit run by Glamorgan as well. But now, young kids in the pathway and academy will proudly don the Daffodil and will all be under Glamorgan Cricket."

Wallace also labelled the free pathway structure as "highly important". Glamorgan is one of only two counties that operate a free pathway structure, which encourages parents from all financial backgrounds to believe that their kids can train at the best facilities in Wales without paying large sums of money, which can be a hindrance to many.

Glamorgan Cricket is proud to have a former academy player in Kiran Carlson captaining the white-ball teams, who came from the pathway right up to the first-team. Ben Kellaway, Will Smale, Ben Morris, Tom Bevan and Henry Hurle have all come from the pathway systems of the Club, and are now playing in the first-team at the Home of Welsh Cricket!
