Glamorgan’s overseas International star Marnus Labuschagne is set to play his final game for the Welsh county this season this Friday, 19 July.
The Australian International has been a key player for Glamorgan, showcasing his exceptional talent in batting, bowling, and mind-boggling fielding in both Vitality Blast and the Vitality County Championship.
Vitality County Championship 2024
In the red-ball format, Labuschagne’s contributions have been even significant. In four games, he has played 8 innings, amassing an impressive 468 runs. His batting average stands at a remarkable 58.50, underlining his consistency and class. Labuschagne’s season highlights include two centuries: 111 against Middlesex at Sophia Gardens, and the second century, which is also his highest score this season, 119 against Gloucestershire in what is arguably one of the greatest matches in the history of the County Championship. Additionally, he has scored two half-centuries against Northamptonshire at Sophia Gardens. His ability to anchor the innings and build substantial scores has been invaluable for Glamorgan once again.
Vitality Blast 2024
Labuschagne has been a crucial part of Glamorgan’s middle order in the 2024 Vitality Blast competition. Over 12 innings, he has accumulated 228 runs. His highest score in the competition has been 58, which came against Surrey in the Blast opener for Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens. His other half-century came against Kent in the most recent game, which helped Glamorgan win a 13-over encounter, proving his reliability and adaptability in the shorter format of the game. In addition, he has taken some of the best catches of the season including his wonder catch against Gloucestershire.
