England\'s Moeen Ali insists there is still room for improvement in his side\'s performances and wants to secure a whitewash in the Royal London One Day International series against Pakistan in Cardiff tomorrow.
Moeen, who hit the winning runs in England's four-wicket win at Headingley on Thursday, was speaking to the media ahead of tomorrow's finale at The SSE SWALEC.
And he wants England to continue to improve after witnessing a remarkable turnaround in the side's fortunes since being knocked out of the 2015 World Cup 18 months ago.
This current Pakistan series has been indicative of England's much-improved form and Moeen is desperate to clinch a 5-0 scoreline in front of a packed house in Cardiff tomorrow. He claimed fielding remained an area in which England could get even better.
Moeen said: "We've been excellent for most of this series and we're going to try and get this whitewash. We always try and perfect our fielding or get close to perfect and we want to become number one in the world.
"To go along with our batting and bowling, if we can get our fielding right, we'd be a fantastic team."
England are expected to stick with Jonny Bairstow as wicket-keeper batsman in place of the injured Jos Buttler, who may not be risked after suffering a hamstring strain in the warm-up at Headingley. England fans are still reeling from the world record 444/3 the team posted at Trent Bridge.
"Over the last year or so we've had our three highest scores (in ODI cricket) and we have the personell in the side who play the way they play and it's fantastic to have them in the side, guys like Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow," added Moeen.
"To have someone like Jonny who wasn't in the side at the start of the series, just shows how far we've come as a team.
"We're playing positive cricket but you've got to be smart at times as well. We have players in the side who can take bowling apart but they can be smart too.'
Moeen is expected to line up for England tomorrow as they face Pakistan at The SSE SWALEC (10.30am start).
