MORRIS APOLOGISES TO SUPPORTERS AFTER MATCH ABANDONMENT

Glamorgan Chief Executive Hugh Morris has vowed to launch an internal investigation into the abandonment of today's Royal London One-Day Cup match against Hampshire at The SSE SWALEC.

The match was abandoned after Hampshire batsman Jimmy Adams was struck on the helmet as a result of inconsistent bounce.

I am desperately disappointed that our match has been abandoned but the umpires were left with no alternative as player safety is their primary concern, said Hugh.

I would like to apologise to the members and supporters of Glamorgan and Hampshire and to all of those that were watching the live broadcast.

We will launch an immediate investigation into the circumstances around the preparation of this pitch.

The same strip was also used for Friday's Royal London One-Day Cup victory over Essex and was marked 'above average'.

Sky's decision to televise today's fixture had no influence on pitch selection and the same strip would have been used if the game had taken place without cameras present.

We were delighted that Sky Sports chose to televise our match and I want to make it clear that the broadcast had no impact on the selection or preparation of the pitch, said Hugh.

I will speak to all relevant parties to paint a definitive picture of exactly what has happened and what measures we need to put in place to prevent anything like this happening again.
