Morris Outlines Pitch Measures Ahead of Sold-out International.

Glamorgan County Cricket Club will wait until the end of the season before confirming arrangements for the appointment of a Head Groundsman at The SSE SWALEC.
Assistant Groundsmen Robin Saxton, Andrew Noyes and Kenny Lawrence will finalise preparations for the sold-out NatWest T20 International double header between England and Australia on Monday 31 August.

We are very fortunate to have three highly experienced groundsmen who have taken on the challenge of producing an international wicket, with the support of Chris Woods from the ECB, said Hugh.

Given the proximity of the international fixture and the fact that we only have one more domestic fixture at The SSE SWALEC in 2015, we are in no rush to make a permanent appointment to our Head Groundsman vacancy.

Morris confirmed that pitch nine, the surface that led to points deductions in consecutive seasons for Glamorgan, will no longer be used until it has been re-laid.

We have taken steps to acquire an independent assessment of the pitch and we have received specific recommendations for remedial work which we will action, he said.

As a result of the feedback, we will not be playing any competitive cricket on that strip until it has been re-laid and had time to bed-in. In all likelihood, that particular strip will be out of action for at least 2 years but we have a big square and we simply will not take the risk.

Monday's double-header will see England Women take on Australia at 10.30am followed by the men's match at 3pm with a sell-out crowd and global broadcast audience keen to see two exciting contests.
