Glamorgan\'s latest debutant Lukas Carey reflected on a dream debut at Swansea yesterday, as the 19-year-old paceman took three wickets on the first day of the Welsh county\'s Specsavers County Championship match against Northamptonshire.
Carey claimed 3/37 in 10 overs on a rain-affected day at St Helen's, but took the wicket of in-form Northants opener Ben Duckett with his 11th ball in first-class cricket.
The seamer also accounted for Rob Keogh and Sean Terry to cap a remarkable entry into first-team cricket and admitted was 'excited' to be brought into the side, as Glamorgan Head Coach Robert Crofted rested Graham Wagg, Craig Meschede and Michael Hogan.
Carey said: "I felt really excited when I got the call-up, I was really looking forward to playing in Swansea as the home ground of the west.
"I thought hopefully I'd get a couple of wickets and get another game, then the first one came in the second over and there were a couple more in between the rain-breaks."
Carey confessed his knowledge of club cricket in South Wales had helped him extract the best from the St Helen's pitch
He added: "I've played quite a bit of club cricket here so I know what the pitch is doing, it helped going into the game.
"I've played in the same side as [coach Robert Croft] for Pontarddulais when I came into the first team. He's good to have around for a chat, and [assistant coach] Steve Watkin has helped me a lot since I was about 16."
Glamorgan's Spescavers County Championship clash with Northamptonshire resumes this morning at 11am.
