Glamorgan’s young batsman Nick Selman has put pen to paper on a three-year contract that will keep him at the Welsh county until 2019.
Australian-born Selman has impressed with a succession of high scores in Glamorgan’s Second XI this season.
Selman hit hundreds in both innings of Glamorgan’s 2nd XI win over Surrey, which earned him a first team debut against Worcestershire at The SSE SWALEC.
The 20-year-old initially joined on a one-year deal in November last year, following spells with Kent and Gloucestershire Second XIs last season.
But he has impressed the Glamorgan hierarchy, with Chief Executive Hugh Morris saying: “Nick has proven a great acquisition for the club and we have high hopes for him in the future.
“His performances in the Second XI have been really impressive and hopefully he can keep improving and make an impression in the Glamorgan first team.
“Glamorgan Cricket are committed to giving opportunities to talented young cricketers and Nick certainly comes under that category.”
Selman, who was born in Brisbane and has dual Australian and English citizenship, made his name in grade cricket down under, representing Queensland in both cricket and Aussie Rules Football as a teenager.
He added: “I’m delighted to be committing my long-term future with Glamorgan. It’s a great club with fantastic history and the support I’ve had since arriving here has been brilliant.
“I hope I can have a long and successful career with the club.”
