Glamorgan continue their T20 Blast campaign with their second game in as many days by travelling to Richmond to take on Middlesex on Friday night, and there is one batsman who could cause the Glamorgan bowling attack some problems.
George Bailey, the Australian oversees player for Middlesex this season, joined at the end of June – replacing Brendan McCullum –and will be eager to make a mark for them in the latter part of this T20 campaign.
Bailey has featured just the once for Middlesex since his arrival but he will see the Glamorgan game as a chance to improve on his display last time out against Sussex, where his knock of 16 didn’t give Middlesex the platform they needed, as they went on to lose by 7 wickets.
With five Tests, 71 ODIs and 28 T20 International appearances for Australia, Bailey brings the blend of experience and quality to Middlesex that Glamorgan will need to be on their game to deal with tonight. The Australian batsman will also face up to fellow countryman Shaun Tait at Richmond.
He has joined a buoyant Middlesex side that is currently top of the County Championship Division One table after the recent dismantling of Yorkshire by an innings and 4 runs, and just two T20 places below Glamorgan in fourth. Bailey can be the ballast on which their quest for a quarter-final place is built.
