It’s the first fifty of the year with 56 schools from throughout Wales having already signed up for the free ticket packages for accompanied school groups to watch T20 games at Cardiff during 2024.
In total, over 2,000 tickets have already been allocated for the matches taking place on
Thursday, 13 June when the Western Storm meet The Thunder, followed by Glamorgan’s T20 Blast contest against Hampshire, as well as the match the following week on Thursday, 20 June when Glamorgan meet Gloucestershire in another all-action T20 match at Sophia Gardens.
“We have been delighted by the response to our offer,” said Andrew Hignell, the Education and Heritage Co-ordinator of Glamorgan County Cricket Club. “The package only went live when schools returned on 8 January after the Christmas and New Year break, and within ten days we have topped the 50-mark in terms of schools attending and over 2,000 tickets have been allocated to schools for these games.”
“The feedback from teachers has also highlighted how great our offer is for 2024 with a double-header on 13 June with a men’s and women’s game on the same day. They also remain very grateful that we are offering a free ticket package for accompanied parties from schools and colleges so that youngsters can experience a match-day at Sophia Gardens in the all-action white-ball competitions.”
