Pirates Win Disability Premier League Final at Sophia Gardens

Pirates won the Disability Premier League final on a sunny afternoon at Sophia Gardens, beating Tridents by 32 runs to lift the title at the home of Welsh cricket.

Batting first, Pirates put up 143 runs on the board, thanks to a 98-run 3rd-wicket partnership between Anthony Clapham and Dan Bowser. Tridents struggled to find bowling options after their opening seamer Matt Bailey was removed from the attack for bowling two beamers. In reply, Tridents never got going courtesy a match-winning spell from Pirates seamer Adnan Ghani, who rattled the stumps, claiming 4 wickets for just 18 runs in his 4 overs.

After losing the finals twice in successive years in 2022 and 2023, Pirates finally came through and claimed the title in Cardiff, ending their 3-year wait. A valiant effort by Tridents, who finish the tournament as runners-up.
