The waiting is nearly over – the RBS Six Nations has finished, the last race has been run at the Cheltenham Festival and British Summer Time is just a handful of days away.
After weeks of training under the eagle eye of Head Coach Robert Croft and the rest of the coaching staff, the coming week will see Glamorgan's cricketers play their opening match of the 2017 season, against Somerset at Taunton on Thursday, March 23rd and Friday March 24th, before continuing their schedule of pre-season games by meeting Gloucestershire in a one-day friendly at The SSE SWALEC on Monday, March 27th.
The opening first-class contest then follows with a three-day friendly against Cardiff MCCU starting on Tuesday, March 28th at The SSE SWALEC. With the first-class season running continuing until September 28th, the forthcoming summer will become the longest on record, whilst the contest against Cardiff MCCU will also be the first in the U.K. that has ever started and ended before the end of March.
Glamorgan’s pre-season programme will be rounded off with a two-day friendly, again at The SSE SWALEC, against Nottinghamshire on Sunday April 2nd and Monday April 3rd, before the Welsh county travel to Northampton for their opening match in the Specsavers County Championship starting at the Wantage Road ground on Friday, April 7th.
Full details about these pre-season games will appear here on the official Glamorgan website with session-by-session match reports, as well as score updates and other news on social media.
