Glamorgan left-arm spinner Prem Sisodiya has announced his retirement at the end of the current season.
Cardiff-born Prem came through the Glamorgan Pathway system and represented England at the ICC U19 World Cup in New Zealand in 2019. He also played for Cardiff MCCU while a student at Cardiff Met University.
He made his first team debut for Glamorgan in their County Championship match against Derbyshire at Swansea in June 2018 and went on to play 51 times for the Club‘s 1st XI across all formats.
Prem played regularly in T20 cricket, often opening the bowling and specialising in bowling in the difficult Powerplay overs where his career economy rate of 8.20 stands up against the best in the format.
Speaking on his retirement Sisodiya said: “It’s been a very difficult decision and not one I’ve taken lightly. I’ve loved my time at the Club but I’m excited for the next chapter of my life.
“I want to thank all the players and staff at the Club that I have worked with over the years and I look forward to seeing their success in the future.
“Glamorgan will always be a part of me and I have made friends for life here. I will continue to watch on as a fan and wish the Club and everyone involved nothing but the best for the future.”
Director of Cricket Mark Wallace added: “Prem has been one of our most popular members of the playing group over the years, a great ambassador for the Club and a talented and selfless player on the field.
“His performances particularly with the new ball in T20 cricket showed his flexibility and skill against some of the most explosive batters in the game.
“I have no doubt that Prem will be a success in whatever he chooses to do next and everybody at the Club wishes Prem the very best for the future.”
