Wicketkeeper Chris Cooke was in an honest mood after Glamorgan’s defeat to Essex in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
Cooke top-scored for the Welsh county with 59, however Glamorgan were bowled out for 200 with Essex comfortably reaching the target for the loss of only one wicket.
“It wasn’t enough today and it was a tough loss to take,” said Cooke.
“We got the unfavourable conditions batting first and it was tough and they bowled really well. 200 was never going to be enough and we weren’t at the races again, so we’ve got to pick ourselves up I guess and try and win some games.
“It was tough to bat for the first hour or two and it got better as the day went on but it’s no excuse to how we performed today. It was one of those days where everything went wrong.”
Glamorgan have now lost all five of their Royal London One-Day Cup matches and can’t progress to the knockout stages, however Cooke believes there is still plenty to play with three matches left in the competition.
“We’ve had chances to win other games but we didn’t have a chance in this one but we’ve got three games left to play and we’re playing for a very special club and playing for the badge and whenever we put on the short we always try to give it a 100 percent.
“If we can get a couple of wins going into the four-day games and T20 then who knows what we can still do with the season. There’s always something to play for when you’re playing for Glamorgan.”
