Jacques Rudolph hailed a last-wicket stand of 63 between Andrew Salter and Timm van der Gugten as crucial to Glamorgan\'s hopes of winning their County Championship clash with Derbyshire.
Salter (25*) and van der Gugten (36) guided Glamorgan to 377 all out and a fourth batting bonus point, after three quick wickets at the start of Day Two had reduced the Welsh county to 314/9.
And though the rain arrived in Derby before Tea, washing out the rest of the day's cricket, Glamorgan captain Rudolph was adamant a few early wickets could put his side into a winning position.
He said: "The way Andrew Salter and Timm van der Gugten played put us into a strong position and it will be important for us to start well (today).
"If you bowl good areas there's enough in it but the flip side to that is if you don't it's easy to score so we have to be on it tomorrow morning."
Derbyshire's on-loan fast bowler Luke Fletcher, who picked up the wicket of Craig Meschede in the morning session, said: "It was shaping up nicely but none of us can do anything about the weather.
"It's been a bitterly cold couple of days and although it's alright when you're bowling, when you stop you stiffen up. I think it's the coldest I've been for a long time and it's hard coming back for spells."
Glamorgan's match against Derbyshire, weather permitting, resumes this morning at 11am. Updates on Twitter @GlamCricket.
