England held their nerve to win a very exciting must-win encounter against Sri Lanka to progress from the Super 10 stage to the Semi-finals of the 2016 ICC Twenty20 World Cup.
After Buttler's heroics with the bat England set Sri Lanka a very competitive 172 to win, but early in the Sri Lankan reply it looked like it would be a very one-sided clash as they lost four early wickets including that of dangerman Dilshan.
However Angelo Matthews' performance, despite playing with injury, saw Sri Lanka turn the game on its head, with England desperate for a wicket as they stared down the barrel of defeat and elimination from the tournament.
However, important wickets, including a great catch by Root and vital overs from Jordan and Stokes at the end denied the holders Sri Lanka a chance to defend their title as England made it through with West Indies from the pool to the last four where they will join New Zealand and either Australia or hosts India.
Sri Lanka are the first team to tour England and Wales this summer, with their Test Series kicking off another busy summer of international cricket. You can see these two exciting teams go face-to-face in Cardiff with the fifth and final encounter of the Royal London One-Day International Series at The SSE SWALEC. If its anything like recent clashes between these two including today's T20 contest its sure to go down to the wire in the Welsh capital.
