Centuries from first-team hopefuls Nick Selman and Mark Wallace inspired Glamorgan\'s 2nd XI to a stunning victory over Surrey yesterday.
Steve Watkin's side won by 7 wickets in a thrilling contest at Guildford.
New signing Selman hit hundreds in both innings to show his credentials after joining the Welsh county for 2016, while Wallace made a second innings 136 before Connor Brown's unbeaten 48 saw Glamorgan over the line.
Selman first compiled a measured 113 off 160 balls to guide Glamorgan to 300/6 declared, after Surrey had posted 325 all out at Guildford. Carmarthen-born bowler Lukas Carey took 4/97 to finish the Surrey innings.
The home side then declared on 328/7, to give Glamorgan the difficult task of making 355 in the fourth innings. with Dominic Sibley smashing 144 to stake his claim for a Surrey first-team berth.
The hosts were seemingly in the driving seat, but Selman joined wicket-keeper Wallace for a mammoth opening stand of 272 as Glamorgan set off in pursuit of 355 for the win.
Selman finished on 117, with Wallace making 136. By the time the pair were dismissed, Glamorgan were 274/2 and had victory in their sights. Brown and Imran Hassan then finished the job with an unbroken partnership of 69.
