In a double-helping of good news, director of cricket Mark Wallace revealed that Shaun Marsh is returning to Cardiff to continue his spell as Glamorgan's primary overseas player, while Fakhar Zaman has agreed to extend his stay by a further three matches.
Marsh, who signed as Glamorgan's overseas player on a two-year deal in 2018, will be available for Sunday's fixture against Surrey and then through until the end of the season. Marsh missed the start of the season due to his heavy international commitments and his call-up to Australia's Cricket World Cup squad, where he then suffered a fractured arm that has kept him out for the last month.
Fakhar Zaman was originally signed for the first eight matches of the Blast, but has extended his stay with the Welsh county for an extra three fixtures. His last game will be away against Essex on Friday, 16th, before the squad heads to North Wales for the Specsavers County Championship game against Lancashire in Colywn Bay.
"Shaun Marsh arrives early tomorrow (Friday) morning, but it'll probably be slightly too early for him to play with his jet lag." said director of cricket, Mark Wallace. "He'll then be available through the rest of the season.
"Shaun was in good form through the World Cup, so it was a shame to then lose him to injury. His recovery has been quite quick and gone well, so it's good to have him back for the rest of the season.
"He will be very helpful in the County Championship too. He's been here before, he knows the players and the club, so hopefully he can pick up where Marnus left off. He's very experienced so he'll be straight into the reckoning for T20 and Colwyn Bay.
"Fakhar was scheduled to go home this week but he has agreed to stay for another three games. It's good to have him staying on, he's had a good effect around the place.
"He's not quite had the impact on the field that he wanted but that happens in Twenty20 cricket - it's a chaotic and random game, and it's difficult to hit the ground running in a sporadic tournament. He's put in some good performances and he's got a couple more games to show us what he's all about."
