Glamorgan Cricket is excited to announce that slow left-arm spinner Prem Sisodiya has signed a new three-year deal which will keep him at the Club until at least the end of the 2023 season.
Sisodiya made his first-class debut for the club in 2018 against Derbyshire at Swansea and took match figures of 5/73.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season in T20 cricket last year. Often opening the bowling during the powerplay, he took 10 wickets in nine matches at a miserly economy rate of just 6.44.
Born and raised in Cardiff, Sisodiya came through the Glamorgan Pathway system and in 2018 went on to represent England Under-19s as part of their World Cup squad, taking four wickets in his three appearances in the tournament.
On signing his new three-year deal, Sisodiya, said: “I’m over the moon to sign a contract with Glamorgan for the next few years and commit my future to the club.
“I enjoyed playing regularly in the T20 competition, but my dream is to be a big part of every side and play across all formats over the next couple of years.
“I had a taste of four-day cricket in 2018 but it’s a goal I’ve set myself to work on my red-ball skills this winter and hopefully break in to the County Championship team, as well as cement my place in the one-day sides.”
Director of cricket, Mark Wallace, said: "Prem was one of our real stand-outs from last season, he's always had a huge amount of potential coming through our academy.
"Getting the opportunity not just to play but to take a real front-line role in opening the bowling, he really stood out, as well as coming back on later in innings under pressure.
"We see him as someone with great potential and he's desperate to break into the longer form as well to play some four-day cricket.”
