All-rounder Ruaidhri Smith has signed a new one-year contract which will see him remain at the club until at least the end of the 2022 season.

The 27-year-old Glamorgan Academy product has played 30 First-Class matches, taking 68 wickets with a career-best of 5/87 against Durham in 2018.

In 30 T20 matches he has taken 24 wickets at an average of 30.

On his 24th birthday, Smith famously took 4/6 against Middlesex at Richmond, claiming the most economical spell in the club’s T20 history.

Smith has also represented Scotland at international level in two ODIs and two IT20s.

“I’m delighted to have re-signed for the club,” said Smith.

“It’s been a frustrating spell with injuries, but when I have been fit, I’ve felt I’ve bowled well and put in some strong performances for the team.

“I’m a Cardiff boy and Glamorgan fan and it’s always been a dream to represent the county and I look forward to continuing that next season.”

Director of cricket, Mark Wallace, said: “Ruaidhri has had a difficult time with injuries but when he’s been fit he has demonstrated what a talented player he is.

“Although he hasn’t played much this year, he showed what a good T20 bowler he is and certainly has the skill set to be a key player for us in all formats.”
