Over 150 ladies have signed up to the first Women’s Softball Tournament at Sophia Gardens Cardiff on Sunday 16th September after a busy summer of women’s cricket across Wales.
Teams across Wales have signed up to play on the outfield at the home of Glamorgan Cricket during the second year of the ECB’s Women’s cricket initiative.
Mark Frost, Community and Development Manager at Glamorgan Cricket said: ‘It has been really pleasing to see how women’s softball has taken off in Wales and I really mean Wales as Sunday’s event will have teams from all corners.
Over 1000 people have enjoyed this format of cricket and each individual are acting as excellent role models for girls to see that being active in sport is great fun.
This event brings together people in a special way, which makes new friendships and connections.
I’m pleased Glamorgan Cricket will host this event and having the vibrancy of the Women on the outfield of Sophia Gardens Cardiff will be a great advert for the continued growth of Women’s and girls Cricket.’
The general public are welcome to Sophia Gardens Cardiff for the Women’s Softball tournament on Sunday from midday.
