The SSE SWALEC held the Cardiff County Kwik Cricket Primary School Finals on Monday. In glorious weather 120 school children took part across years 4, 5 and 6. Eight boys teams and six girls teams were involved with the winners now heading to the South Wales Finals.
The schools that competed in the Boys tournament were Rhydypenau, Ysgol Bro Eriwg, Ysgol Melin Gruffryd, Ysgol Treganna, Marlborough, Llysfaen, Radyr and Lansdowne. The boys final saw Ysgol Melin Gruffydd face Radyr with Ysgol Melin Gruffydd winning by 62 runs.
Rumney, Llanishen Fach, Lansdowne, Howells, Whitchurch, Coed Y Gof, Rhiwbeina and Radyr competed in the girls tournament. The final of the girls tournament was between Whitchurch and Howells, with Whitchurch narrowly taking the win on wickets after scores were tied.
Louie and Harry played for Ysgol Melin Gruffydd. It just awesome having this experience said Harry with Louie adding that conditions were hot, exhausting but fun!
Mr Baker of Howells School said it was an honour for the girls to play at the SSE SWALEC, this made the event more prestigious and it was a really good day out for everyone involved.
